China Booster and La French Tech Hong Kong / Shenzhen decides to join forces


In this post Covid era, China Booster and La French Tech Hong Kong / Shenzhen have decided to join forces and combined their individual expertise to support the French start-up ecosytem, impacted by the Covid crisis, to growth, innovate and accelerate in China.


In order to support French start-up, China Booster and La French Tech Hong Kong / Shenzhen say the solutions will draw on the complementary expertise of each one.


What the start-up founders will get from this partnership?

Thanks to this partnership, China Booster will introduce the start-ups founders to the French Tech Hong Kong/Shenzhen which will connect the startupers with the local Hong Kong and Shenzhen network.


The start-ups get a lot of benefits also from this partnership:


Connexions between members locally and internationally (at individual, corporate, and institutional level),


Co-host local tech events with other tech communities’ builders (Startupgrind, HAX etc.)


This partnership between China Booster based in France and the French Tech Hong Kong/Shenzhen based in China will bring exchanges closer and facilitate relations with experts and local opportunities in China.

Curently, an exploration mission of the China market for start-up founders is one of the projects proposed by French Tech Hong Kong/Shenzhen and China Booster.

About French Chinese Center

Created in 2005, the French Chinese Center is a non-profit association based in Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, founded and chaired by Armand Mazloumian. It has a combination of local knowledge, a powerful network and considerable resources acquired in China over the past 16 years. The French Chinese Center is a pioneer in France in free value-added services to French SMEs and entrepreneurs in the Fashion, Beauty and Luxury sector, with the aim to develop on the Chinese market.

The organization has also been able to forge bonds with the City of Yantai and Qingdao for more than 10 years, promoting Franco-Chinese exchanges, along with the development and establishment of French start-ups and SMEs in Shandong province.

Brands such as Lancel, Sonia Rykiel, Rose et Marius, Renaissance Hôtel, Bastide but also French and Chinese economic development agencies have turned to the French Chinese Center for advice.


About China Booster

Created in April 2020, China Booster is the free acceleration program in France dedicated to help French start-up in the Fashion / Luxury / Beauty / Wellness and Tech sector to launch in China, supported by the CCI Marseille Provence, and its partners, launched by The French Chinese Center.

China Booster is a mentoring program which aims to provide tailor-made Chinese services to start-up and entrepreneurs to accelerate their business with China.

More than 20 applications were submitted to join the first promotion in April 2020. Among the winners, 3 French start-up in the Cosmetics, Perfume & Well-being sector - Atelier Sainte-Victoire, Collection35, Konjak Paris - and 1 European Tech start-up based in the Netherlands (Airbliss presented at CES 2020 LAS VEGAS) which has designed an innovative anti-pollution mask advertised as "the best intelligent mask for protection against polluted air in the world."

About French Tech Hong Kong / Shenzhen

Created in 2018, following the merger between French Tech communities of Hong Kong and Shenzhen, French Tech HK/SZ is located in a vibrant ecosystem in the heart of the APAC region which counts 14 French Tech communities.


Missions


Organizing and uniting the French Tech communities in the whole world under the French Tech label and creating synergies with the French ecosystem (facilitate financing, mentoring, networking, recruiting, and give more visibility to the tech communities),

Providing a simplified entry point to French startups planning to settle in Hong Kong and Shenzhen,

Accelerating the development of French startups in the territory with the help of existing entrepreneurs as mentors to direct and advise new entrepreneurs;

Introducing the French Tech community to local stakeholders, and presenting the opportunities for them to develop in France,

Greater Bay Area ecosystem


The GBA is a vibrant ecosystem which includes 9 cities of the Guangdong province (Guangzhou, Huizhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Foshan and Zhaoqin) along with the Special Administrative Regions (SARs) of Hong Kong and Macao.

The GBA is the 12th largest economic entity in the world, after Canada and South Korea with a GDP of US $1.6 bn, 71M people, 43 unicorns & 48,100 patents over 56,000 sqm.

By 2035, the region will become a star ecosystem driven by innovation.


Focus Shenzhen

First contributor to Guangdong’s GDP, Shenzhen counts headquarters of tech giants such as Tencent, Huawei, Dji or again ZTE.

It is a vibrant hub of technology and innovation and also the youngest population among major Chinese cities. We often hear of “Shenzhen speed” which is the capacity to prototype or manufacture 6 to 10 times faster than any other place due to factories proximity and business. The city hosts hundreds of incubators and accelerators such as HAX along R&D centers.

Focus Hong Kong

Hong Kong is Asia’s leading financial hub with all of Asia’s key markets less than four hours’ away. The Global Innovation Index lists Hong Kong as the third most innovative location in South East Asia, East Asia, and Oceania. Its startup ecosystem counts 3,184 startups, 12,478 employees and 92 co-working spaces, incubators and accelerators. Hong Kong’s startup space is built by 34% international founders.
